Post subject:  interesting clubby

Driving down parra rd there is a lime green mettalic clubby for sale. I stopped off to have a look and chat (very friendly) they want $8000 for it (WAY TOO MUCH) the paint is a little cracked. has 2 silver stripes. but the interesting thin IS:
has a wiggle wand (no floor in the hole where the rod/remote change would go)
has a funny looking round nose dash (this is prob something a prev oner did)
and it was in like a gross peppermint colour in the eng bay.

I was thinking maybe this could have been like a council car or something. i never seen a wiggly in a clubby b4 (i believe some vans had a wiggle though)

and ideas?

czerial, you are possibly correct.

I had a Mini K a few years ago, a sedan. It was a 1970. It had the magic wand and no hole for the rod/remote change. It had a very simple interior, and a single speedo binnacle (like the 850's and the vans). It was the equiv to a van, but in a sedan shell. I found it that it was made for the PMG.

Maybe they did the same for even longer? I know the clubby vans had the magic wand, so maybe it was made for the same reason my Mini K was?

It would be a YG2S6 and badged as a Leyland Mini 1100. No mystery, it is a poverty pack clubman.

Yep, we've got a poverty pack round nose at home. Very basic car with an 1100 motor. Made for government departments in the 60's & 70's.

Same setup as mine when I bought it.

It has an oldskool gearbox and 'had' a centre binnacle.

My mini has bits from heaps of mini packed together as one.

They are not an old 850 gearbox but in fact a remote change 4 syncro box with an adaptor for the long stick instead of the remote. I have the box out of one sitting in my shed

It would certainly give you that later gearbox convenience with the original look.

and here i was thinking a stocko clubman couldn't be any more poverty pack! the lesson here is never underestimate Leyland.

Looking at the 1971 Clubman handbook the Mini 1100 had everything that the Clubman had except that it had rubber suspension and the centre speedo. (it does not mention the gearlever)
The Mini 1100 was 614.5kg and the Clubman was 643.7kg. (the difference would be the hydro) All the mechanical specs are otherwise the same.
