I need to buy a central oil pickup for a fresh gearbox build. The last one I bought was actually handmade locally by a Mini racing engineer 25 years ago...
So, has anyone had experience of buying one from the usual suspects? They all look the same in the grainy website photos - are any better/worse than others?

I've only bought the Minispares ones.
I think most others just resell these.

They fit fine in a rod change box.
If you put them straight into a 4 synchro remote shift box, the filter mesh often fouls on the reverse shift lever. Which wears a hole in the mesh...!
Solution:
Squeeze the top bend gently in a vice with soft jaws to move the mesh and pipe forward 2 or 3 mm.
Test fit before final install.

My MSpares item is still working fine. Really there are only two things to look out for; A that it fits and B that it has a reasonably large mesh area...

After 30 years I can't remember if we had to massage it to fit...

Cheers, Ian
