Hey team, I am wanting to have some signage painted onto my mini for my new business. Catch is that it needs to be 60s/70s period correct. The car is a 64 and I'd like a business name down the rear panels. Does anyone have pics of how the cars typically ran (either track or rally) back in the day. Ive googled and just ended up more confused. Was hoping that someone on here would have some old pics. I jave seen a car that had 'Cooper Car co.' Down the side and thats kind of wjat om after, but i cant seem to find it for reference. Thank you Sent from my SM-G960F using Tapatalk |

"...Another good shot of a works Cooper S.." Strictly speaking...No. Cooper competed against the BMC Works Team. Although, usually, Cooper was left to contest touring car racing leaving BMC to concentrate on rallying. But to get back to the topic in hand... The early 60s was a period when overt sponsoring was moving from being prohibited to tacit acceptance. Racing cars were allowed to carry signage indicating their ownership ..or entrant. In 1960 David McKay (winner of the ATCC that year) got in all sorts of hot water because, when refused permission to put his sponsor's name on his Mk I Jag, he painted a red/white/blue (Ampol's colours) racing stripe along the length of the car... 33EJB won the Monte Carlo in 64 with not a sponsor sticker in sight... If you look at pretty much all of the photos above you will see the team name/logo featured prominently with various small badges identifying commercial sponsors. So, I guess for 64 you paint a distinctive "Miniro" down the side and then add a few discreet Castrol, Ferodo, Lucas whatever stickers grouped on the side.... Cheers, Ian |
