Gday, I've got some decisions to make regarding paintwork and it's not familiar territory for me, i'm more on the mechanical side of things. My mini (link in signature) was one that I bought already 'painted' and it looked ok and is pretty solid really. I don't think it was a bare metal respray as there is blue under some parts, but all in all its not bad, I just have to fix some small rust bubbles which I have scraped back and primed then buff it all. So, I had to touch up some paint in the engine bay as the engine is ready to go in and I got some 2k paint matched to the bootlid. It's a good match colour-wise but its so much shinier off the gun than the paint on the car so I'm having a rethink, i might pull some things out of the engine bay and mask others up and freshen it all up. It's one of those hard situations where i've got someone else's half done project which is fine, but it's not to my standard. The splash of new paint makes the old paint look a bit shabby. Here is the mini at the moment Attachment: IMG_6049.jpg Attachment: IMG_6247.jpg Attachment: IMG_5529.jpg Attachment: IMG_5280.jpg Originally I was going to go white roof and bonnet stripes, but then changed my mind to black roof and black stripes. Similar to this, I think the different colour roof kind of makes the roofline look lower in a way. So, any advice is appreciated to help me make up my mind which way to go. Thanks Hayden |

Thanks mate, yes I guess all in all it's in good condition compared to some, no rust that I know of anyway. It's just the little imperfections that bug me a bit, but I am pressed for time also so some things can't be perfect. As I get nearer to getting this one on the road, my thoughts have turned to my '68 deluxe in the back shed, in need of new guards and front apron, but solid apart from that. I'm thinking Yukon grey, 10" wheels, and a turbocharged 1098. Like this but without the spoiler, and the doll. Attachment: IMG_6313.PNG

![]() Don't worry about the engine bay at this stage, You can't see it with the bonnet shut. ![]() |

Personally if I ever resprayed my car it’d go back to the original red all over The only other option you haven’t considered is a silver roof and stripes. They did this on some later Rover minis https://www.shannons.com.au/auctions/20 ... 0U2DPF6AW/ |
