Car No 1918 approx mid 1966. From Dark Blue Mini workshop manual TP832 specifications section It refers to engine number 1918 but that is the car number. No S had an engine number 1918. RonR |

Taken from the MK1 Performance conversions site. - http://mk1-performance-conversions.co.uk/gearboxes.pdf But car 1918 has a later engine. I will have to update my list. |

My first S was car No 1090 and had the rubber unis. Purchased July 66 from Gould's Motors in High Street Northcote. I don't know the actual build date but probably late 65 or early 66. The LH one was replaced 2/3 times in 60K plus miles. RH one never replaced. I was a bit peeved when I found that later build cars had the steel unis and the large oil cooler. IIRC they were added before the Bathurst 66 race. I traded this in for my current S. RonR |

According to TP832, displacers were Double Orange to car 1917, Blue to car 3715 and Silver from car 3716. Also Clubman GT Silver. RonR |

The LHS drive shaft is also shorter than the RHS and for the same amount of wheel travel the LH uni moves through a slightly larger angle than the the RHS. Is this angular difference enough to cause an increase in the wear rate of the LHS rubber uni? Who knows. RonR |

So the left uni and boot get worked a lot more. Phil |

Phil I've got one -- short left side driveshaft absorbs less torque than the longer right, meaning the left side CV has more torque load applied to it |
