The radiator in the paddock bomb has sprung a weeping leak.
Nothing quite like replacing a mini radiator to fully test and squash the sense of humour.

For a paddock bomb, it just needs a dose of pepper and leave rad cap lose. Drove like that for over 12 months in the old Hilux. |

Pepper floats so the water level needs to get down to the leak, then as the pepper flows out it gets stuck in the hole and seals it. Plus u need a fair bit sometimes if the leak is a distance away from the cap as the pepper may stick to the internals as it flows to the leak. |

What started out as a slight weep developed into a full scale deluge when running the engine to do the mixture. I ended up standing in water on the shed floor. So I decided to open the can of worms, the T/stat housing was crumbling, one of the bolts sheared and the lower cowl fell to bits. I now have a 1/4 inch sheared bolt to play with. You gotta love a mini don't you.

On the bright side, now you have started you'll have a fully rebuilt mini in about 10 years, so long as you stick to the "while I'm in there" mentality. |
