Could anybody supply some photo's of the original vacuum hose used on the MK 2 Australian Cooper S. Is it correct that the original hose had a patten on the outside similar to the hydrolastic hose on the displacers? The parts manuals PUB 1056M and PUB 1052 show the same parts number AYK5419. This vacuum hose is available from Mackay Rubber. It has a similiar pattern to hydro hoses, but the pattern is a little more subdued. Attached photos are of the vacuum hose compared with the hydrolastic rubber hose. |

The same type of hose was used on most of the 1970 cars. We used to pop down to the local wreckers to get period correct hose but you cant trust 50 year old hose these days. The new hose like Mackay Rubber sell is the next best option but they are marked with the hose detals which need to be hidden from view. Here is an example Attachment: VH44 Brake Booster Servo Hose.jpg You hay have noticed an issue with heater hose as well. The standard heater hose has thinner walls these days. The old hose clamps bottom out because they were designed for the thicker walled hoses. You may need to use heavy duty heater hose if you are using the original utilux clamps. |

Cheers Fritzie and gtogreen 1969 for your time and photo's. Will look into McKay Rubber parts. This leads me to the question of the hose clips/clamps. Is there a BMC reference document showing the different hose clamps/parts numbers? Was the spring type clamp used on the power booster and internal heater hoses? Cheers. |

Peter - happy to be corrected, but in my experience the early run of Mk 1's had a Utilux double band style with screw / nut. Also common on Valiants / Fords / Holdens here in the day, however the 1/2" may not be as readily available and may also just be generic manufacture without the Utilux branding. |

I searched a little more and found a web site: Kingswoodcountry.com.au Search: vacuum hose The Ford vacuum hose listed looks like a similar Patten on the outer surface to the original hose. What do you think? Need to check sizes. Haven't found a photo from Mackay rubber at this stage |

Rare spares probably do one as well. Lots of Holden and Ford owners want their concours restos as close as possible to original. |
