Post subject: | measurements of pocket liners |
Hey guys and girls. A few questions lately. Unfortunately they don't all come at once which is why I have multiple posts. Does someone have the measurements etc for the cardboard liners for the door pockets? A diagram maybe with measurements so I can make my own ? Cheers |

Maybe put the question in the title so the knowledgable can answer and those that have no clue don't waste their time opening the post? |

I have an original pocket liner in red card 'somewhere' - have seen it recently but cannot find it at the moment. I have been making my own for a while now but getting a good bend in the card is the hard part. Fortunately they are not easily seen in the car. The commercial ones seem a bit dear for what is involved. Pity Australian Door Cards don't do them. |

Yeah thanks bill b, would it be too much to ask if you see it soon to put the measurements up here? |

Found an original door pocket liner. As you may be able to see, they suffer from disintegrating, damp and buckling. And it is made with a slight bend. It will be difficult to hold in down and measure accurately. |

Cheers I have some original HYA 3202 liners, plus a template I made. I can measure the overall length and the width, but to describe the end pieces will be a bit of a task. |

I know from experience the ends are hard to shape and bend correctly, but aren't they part of the backing card, as it is normally all in one piece, including the ends? I have started to remove the vinyl from the card shown in my photo so I can make a new pair of cards for my own car. It is either that, or buying a pair of cards! |

The cards on my door pockets and rear companion box are in a similar state to others so I plan to glue the original vinyl on new cards. I understand people wanting to make the cards themselves for financial or simply therapeutic reason but I think I'll just splash the cash for ready made. https://minisport.com.au/pair-of-door-p ... is-leyland https://minisport.com.au/pair-of-rear-p ... is-leyland If you blink you don't notice the price. ![]() |

I'm about to bend over and buy a set of front and rears. I'll post the dimensions before I fold them up into shape. |

I was thinking of making my own as well - grabbed this pic so if someone has the measurements could they add to this picture please? Attachment: door pocket.jpg

I'm in two minds about this. On the one hand we have a business (Minisport) that has sourced backing cards that are presumably of the correct material and dimensions. They are in the business of Mini spares and need our support to stay in business. So to purchase these, accurately measure them and then publicly provide information for others to make their own is not of benefit to Minisport. On the other hand there are those of us who enjoy maintaining our cars and getting our hands dirty repairing or making things ourselves rather than buying already made, so I can see the benefit in doing what's being proposed. If an original backing card was being measured and the data broadcast then it doesn't involve MS and is not really an issue. Regardless, one way to capture the measurements is to lay the card flat on a piece of graph paper with its dimensions clearly visible. Others could then recreate the outline on their graph paper then transfer the template to the backing card. |

winabbey wrote: cooperess wrote: I wonder if they are the correct material! They are definitely the wrong colour. Would be good to know from someone who's used them. I bought a pair of rear companion box trim cards (without vinyl) from Minisport SA. I also have a large sheet of trim board from a local trimmer supplier. From the photo you can see they are pretty much the same colour. The precut companion box card is 1.6mm thick; the bulk sheet is 2.2mm thick. Cooperess is correct that they are not the original colour but these boards seem to be the standard available now. The original material, like many other products used on our cars, are NLA - for better or worse. I have used Minisport dash panels previously and found them to fit very easily and better than some of my own efforts. They also press the fold lines into the trimboard, which isn't easy to replicate at home. |
