Post subject: | Floor Start Button Wiring |
Hi All. Hoping for some help with wiring. The wiring harness I have is suited for a solenoid but the car is positive earth, has a floor start button, on/off ignition switch and no solenoid. Is there a way that I can still use this harness and what would I need to do with the two brown and white/red wires that would normally go to the solenoid? |

First up, unless you’ve got a really good reason to stay positive earth I’d convert it to negative earth The floor starter has one terminal of live 12v, which also feeds the brown ignition switch & charging The other terminal has the starter signal and 12v through the thick wire There’s a couple of different ways to wire it, depending on if you want to change to a 3 position ignition switch and add a starter solenoid to the flywheel housing, or if you wanted to keep the 2 position switch and floor button Probably the easiest way would be to swap to a starter solenoid and 3 position key You could keep the floor starter, but then you’d need to either extend the wires to the starter button, or add a solenoid or additional live terminal to the engine bay about where the solenoid is |

I would like to keep the 2 position switch and floor start and not add a solenoid if possible. |

I kept the old floor starter on mine - one of the few original things left, love it. The wiring is easy to convert over to the floor starter if you know what you are doing. Bit difficult to give specific advise as it could end badley (up in smoke) if something goes wrond. |
