Hi All, I am looking at getting a set of minilites (https://minisport.com.au/10x45-genuine-minilite-alloy-rim-set-of-4-s-offset) but unsure whether to go for the 4.5" or 5". What size tyres fit these? 145R10s or 165R10s or both? Will the "S" offsets with disc brakes fit under the guards without flares for both sizes? If I have the factory style flares (https://minisport.com.au/mini-original-factory-flare-set-leyland-type-salsagt), will the wheels look too small? TIA |

4.5” wide rims will take 145 or 165 wide tyres 4.5” with the “S” offset will fit nicely without flares If you have flares you’d probably want 5” and an offset of approximately 15mm |

Just for comparison, this is a magnesium TechDel Minilite (from the 70s I think). Its probably a 5 or 6 inch wheel going by the 165 (Goodyear G800 IIRC) tyre fitted. The 4.5” version with 165 tyres (A008s) will juuuust fit under standard S arches (ie no flairs). The tread is covered while the sidewalls stick out ..but not enough to upset NSW rego authorities... ![]() Cheers, Ian |

Depending on the disc setup, you may need to shave the caliper a little as well. I needed to take about 5mm off the corner of the bleed housing with my 7.5 discs. These are original ROH that just fit under the guards with 165 yokos. Not an issue as not structural and not close to the thread etc. Attachment: Disc20210103_163726.jpg Add the silver 'S' side trim and there isnt any poke at all. |

..... a couple more comparisons. Firstly a 4.5” FIA offset Minilite fitted to my Traveller; which has an S front end so the tyre arch relationship will be exactly the same as for an S. Attachment: FE59EFE1-918D-40B5-BF38-52D549ECDA5A.jpeg And secondly, a Minilite with A008 alongside a factory LS alloy and Bridgestone... The 008s stick out fractionally more than the Bridgestones ... but its 4/5ths the square root of....... Attachment: DBBEC31F-80B8-44B5-91FF-D10D0C5B8EEE.jpeg The Minilites have a touch more clearance than the LSs (which need a small shim) ssshhh ![]() Cheers, Ian |
