That on the money?

I think the one on my clubby is screwey... sometimes ya go to crank it over and ya hear a click and nothing happens, maybe solenoid? ...or time for a gemini starter?

My clubbie starter does the same thing... Clicks away until it decides to fire up, most annoying. :?

You can get a Lucas one, or the Echlin copy which looks just like it. I bought the latter and it went NBG when hot, after 2 months use. Get the Lucas... it's not much dearer.

<edit> $25.25 for a Lucas one, at Karcraft.

Clicking would usualy suggest that it is working. Just whack a test bulb on it or something, and make sure its earthed properly. Btw, its very possible that the terminal on your starter motor has gone loose and is either shorting out on its casing or is just not connected to the brushes.

Mine went 'clicky' a lot.

I replaced my battery terminals....all fine now :)

When solenoids get old, they click and no go. This is because the high starter current arcs the copper contacts and with time eventually wears them away. The solenoid armature pulls in still but it runs out of travel before making proper contact.
I know this, `coz I've pulled a few Lucas ones apart and made short term fixes..
