Hi All

I am trying to find a way to add a click to my 70's mini blinkers. While I am used to a non-clicking blinker, I have 2 grandsons now driving our minis, so need some sort of audio to remind them the blinker is on.

The audible slap from you in the front seat while saying "Blinker's on!" should be sufficient.

Mechanical comtact flasher unots click audibly. They are readily available.
Alternatively lamps with beepers are also available.

Have you got the flasher unit mounted under the dash like Aussie minis? There was an extension loom to bring them inside

There are different types of flasher units you can buy, some make more noise than others

I fitted a John Deer Tractor warning beeper to a mates C/M GT after following him on multiple occasions with his blinker on for no reason , We have rebuilt his steering column since and aligned the cancel peg

A piezo buzzer in the circuit will do it - https://www.jaycar.com.au/sound-video/s ... ity-desc&q

Thanks everyone for your advice. Cannot find a flasher unit that gives a sound with each blink, and Minisport responded to my enquiry saying that could not source them, so going for the piezo buzzer from Jaycar.

Depending on the current/voltage draw of the buzzer, it may effect the flashing/blinking rate of the indicators.

Thanks Ausdino for the input. Yes, current drain is a consideration. I have found a very low current piezo buzzer, so hoping that will do the trick and still keep blinker rate and bulb brightness up.

Piezo buzzers draw very little current and most flasher cans will handle extra globes in the circuit (think side repeaters, trailer lights etc).
You will be fine, it will work well.

Fix the self canceller on the steering column, no reminder needed

Ha ha yes Simon, good start and have done that with a second hand self canceller from Mini Kingdom. Old one had been bodgied up with weld and damaged the self cancelling mechanism. Just want to make sure my grandsons don't lose demerit points if the mechanism gets unreliable again.

Instead of a piezo, you could use a short message recorder.
"TURN THE FREAKIN INDICATOR OFF, POLICE ON YOUR TAIL" . ;-)

Or himself saying "Blink, Blink, Blink, ...."

Some of these old blinker cans had a welded tag on them to bolt them to the car. I have one in my mini and It's very effective at transmitting the click to the car and makes it quite a lot louder for the driver. Unfortunately, I haven't seen them in a long time, and usually only found them in old car wiring looms.
