I was going to order a couple of these. When will you have a chance to test these in the dark?

Hopefully during the week.

I got these delivered and have tried them in a spare old speedo and oil gauge, they work well.

Unlike many LEDs they give yellow light which looks more natural in an antique Mini.
Will fit to my wasaMatic this week.

Thanks for the update - I like the natural look, so will probably order some.
What do you think causes the problem - speedo hard to read.
Was the lighting like this from standard - who knows?
Om my speedo, you can read the odo and fule gauge, but not the speedo numbers, and it is hard to see the location of the needle.

I have checked for voltage drop thinking of a crappy switch or conection somewhere.
Fitted new 2.2 W globes as the old ones were discoloured (that could happen after 55 odd years).
Checked all surfaces inside the speedo are sound and clean.
Checked the spacing between the dial and the face components for the light path - this is pretty minimal.

All looks good, but I struggle to beleive they were like this from new.

I think I will order these and move on https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/254421913339
But it is frustrating not to be able to sort it properly.

They are in and working. Unlike original bulbs the light output is same whether engine is running, or not.
Thread form is the same but being 'PRC quality' the entry of thread was dodgy.
Fixed with a small 3 cornered file.

Apologies for not getting back to you sooner with a picture, i have been unwell and also having 'mini trouble' in the lead up to the Rylstone Classic.

The only reason i went LED was to attempt to match the aftermarket gauges i have installed. Ideally i still prefer old bulbs.... The LED's dont appear to make the gauge any easier to read, but just changes the colour.

Thanks for the info guys. Will try the PRC LED's, and also open up the "light path" from the globes to the face.
