Post subject:  Door Rubbers
I have a 1964 mk1 which was originally a sliding window car - but at some point the doors were replaced with Deluxe type doors.

I have always had issues with door rubbers and doors closing correctly (I am using NON 850 door rubbers). I am aware of the 2 different types of door rubbers available.

Are the different rubbers due to the shape of the doors or are the door apertures a different shape? (hopefully that makes sense)

I am considering using the smaller 850 door rubbers... I am interested to hear from anyone that is more knowledgeable than I about the doors, rubbers and apertures.

I found out that UK MK 1 850 door rubbers don't work with Mini K/Matic windup doors. After importing them.
I had a 3mm gap in places.
Not sure if it's the door or body flange different.

This is what i was trying to work out.. I need to replace the door rubbers, i would rather just not have to buy 2 different sets.

Take the door rubbers off and check the clearance between door and body, where there is a tight clearance use a hammer and block of wood to bend the body flange in towards the Centre of car. This will help but you may have to try the smaller rubber that is available .Rod Martin would know I will send you his number.
