Did BMC have two versions of the metal pipe at the engine end. Here is what I have.

Re the hose I replaced mine last year. But found the new hose poor quality and the clamps too.
Instead of 1/8" hose I then bought 3mm fuel injection hose it's a nice tight fit on the pipe barbs.

Now to get things back on track.

Did BMC have two versions of the metal pipe at the engine end (please see first picture)?

Mini King's catalogue shows only 1 version p/n CAM4202.
The top tube looks to be about the correct length. The tubes can be easily damaged, which might explain what happened to the shorter one and it has been modified to suit.

Pipe at bottom of picture (shorter pipe) = engine > rubber (interconnect) hose. However I believe the 'slotted' clip (pictured on the longer length) goes over this shorter pipe. This clip is held in place via the 5/16" UNC flywheel housing bolt adjacent to the oil union outlet. The 'P' clip goes on the longer length of pipe, held via the 1/8" BSW nut to the screw securing (in your case) dash nacelle.

This pic of my MK II S prior to restoration showing the metal pipe to the gauge and the securing clip. Obviously the pics posted earlier by gtogreen1969 are a Mark 1 Cooper S with the earlier white plastic instrument binnacle behind the oval binnacle.

So Doug, the pipe is held to the firewall by a screw that holds the oval binnacle in?

Just compared your picture with my Mk2 and can see there is a difference between our Mini's. My firewall has a nut welded to the firewall so there is no way the oil pipe can fit like yours.

That screw is longer to fit the extra P clip and nut.
