Post subject:  Air cleaner bolt/screw ?

Hi all, just picked up another mk2 S air cleaner as mine had its snorkel amputated. I'm just wondering what bolt/screw goes in the cooper S air cleaner snorkel? Is it a blade/phillips screw or bolt ? looks to be 1/4 unc. I'm just restoring it for posterity, will be running a webber.

I think they call it a Cheese Head screw if that helps in your search?

I had a look on classic fasteners and couldn't find it . Approx 35mm long & 5.76mm width. I found one that fits, but it has a partially rounded out #2 phillips head - so not ideal. Off to the bolt shop on Monday. On a side note, classic fasteners have Lucas original binnacle indicator lights for $10.50.

If you're still looking, there is a machine screw on the early starter motors that clamps the cover band over the holes at the commutator end. The one I have looks to be a slotted fillister head - ie. slightly domed on top and is about 38mm long. Can send photo and thread size a bit later if you want to follow up.

Hi Bill, thanks for looking. I have checked a couple of starter motors ('68 &'70) and those screws are too thin. The one below fits perfectly, but has a butchered #2 phillips head. I have seen them before, but it escapes me where at the moment. I have been through all my bottles of bolts and screws to no avail.
