The photo was of the first five Minis that arrived purely randomly at a Mini Club event at Gosford. The Clubman van wanted to match the hair colour of its owner (and succeeded). The perky 850 or Deluxe of course was red. The wannabe racecar thought that it was a Bathurst works car. (And 1071S/Ian is right about the million different BRG's. It is impossible to match the original colour and then you have to allow for fading) The Broadspeed/Monaco/Buckle/Backyard goes faster in red. And the Moke. No one should have asked the Moke. It was having a bad day; maybe a hangover? Dave D. |

Most period pastel colours seem to look good but I think most blingy modern metallics look terrible. |

It's not so much about specific colours, but more so how the colour suites the specific car and build theme. Dutchy's WRX powered mini looks amazing in metallic Audi dark blue, with all the accessories blacked out. I've got 'smoke blue' '64 850 with original blue fleck interior, it's going to go great with a bunch of period mods and accessories. If I was building a balls to the wall supercharged 1380 little animal I'd want it to look equally as obnoxious in bright yellow with black interior. |

True, I do agree with different builds suiting some really different colour schemes. I guess I was just aiming around more stock round nose models. |

As from today (03/12/2022] the results from a similar UK forum are quite different from ours. UK vote listed first, ours in blue % Red 22%: - 16% Black 1.85%: - 14% White 9.26%: - 16% Cream 3.7%: - 3% Greys 16.67%: - 3% Dark greens 9.26%: - 5% Light greens 9.26%: - 19% Light blues 16.67%: - 16% Dark blues 7.41%: - 8% Browns 3.7%: - 0% So combining the two polls, the most popular colours in order are: Red 19.11% Light blue 16.33% Light green 14.33% White 12.63% Grey 9.83% Black 7.92% Dark blue 7.7% Dark green 7.13% Cream 3.35% Browns 1.85% Interesting that apart from red getting the most combined overall votes, light blue, dark blue and cream had near equal results between the two polls. And I would not have thought that light blue would come in so strongly either. |
