Post subject: | Non-Recovery Radiator Cap |
Been a while since I fitted a new radiator cap. Most websites don’t know what a Mini is these days. So it’s useless searching. Currently have a CPC brand 13/90 cap. Tridon seems to list either a CA1390 or CN1390? Any other suggestions on what to use? |

Is it a long neck or a short neck radiator? |

You should firstly determine if the rad is long or short neck. most minis will be long neck but as it only takes a minute to check. measure from the bottom seal area to the top of the neck. long will be about 25mm while a short will be around 19mm. |

I can’t see anything in the Tridon range that will suit. |

That short-neck cap is p/n GRC1111 at most mini suppliers like Mini Sport SA, Karcraft, Classic Motoring etc. |

Hmmmm. We don’t have anything like that here. Was hoping for Rapeco/Supercrap or Autobarn. |

This is a Tridon part and your favourite local stores should be able cough one up for you. The CPC brand seems to have an equivalent in 508-13 as well. |

TRIDON part numbers are prefixed CN for the shorter (31mm) non-recovery cap and CR for the longer (34mm) cap. Since yours appears to be the shorter style you just choose the release pressure, from 4 psi up to 20 psi. See here - https://www.tridon.com.au/products/Trid ... iator-caps If you want to replace your current cap with like for like then CN1390 appears to be the one you want. https://www.tridon.com.au/products/Trid ... s/2/CN1390 Suggest you print the CN1390 page and take to your auto parts outlet for comparison with whatever brand they have. |

To be honest the cap you have looks fine, unless someting has broken there is little to go wrong with a non recovery cap. |

I borrowed this from the Mokewerx website as a comparison of packaging of the two brands. Attachment: Radiator Cap Comparison.jpg

The Tridon website shows incorrect dimensions for the CN1390. That’s what threw me. Autobarn has the correct dimensions: https://autobarn.com.au/ab/Autobarn-Cat ... /p/SP05456 |
