If you want rust prevention use Cavity Wax. This is used after the car is painted. Supplied by body and paint supplier. Much better than fish oil which was used because it was the finest oil available .The cavity wax is available with a long tube and a 4 way spray nozzle at the end . Allen |

I was waiting for more details as to what it was but I too had assumed cavity wax/fishoil type of thing not coolant. |

Any decent modern coolant will be fine. Just take care to use the green stuff if that’s what’s in there now (most likely) or if the coolant is orange it could be OAT based in which case use something like the Castrol OAT coolant. IMPORTANT- do NOT mix the too, use one or the the other, they turn to chewing gum in your engine if mixed. Also be aware that OAT coolants can damage silicone coolant hoses. |

All I have found is that SQ36 contains 25.7% ethylene glycol. Choosing a modern coolant could become an argument. As above sounds fine but I don't know much about coolant. |

Sorry, yes I should have stated coolant  The current coolant is red. I have used Penrith 10 Tenths in a race engine previously and when the engine has been pulled down it was always spotless inside. https://penriteoil.com.au/community/pos ... -inhibitor Has anyone used this in a road vehicle. G'day Phil, Yep - I use the Penrite 10/10ths in Minnie which is an 850 and just used on the road. When the engine was rebuilt, I was told to just run plain water in the radiator for the first 500 - 800 miles and then flush it out and use the Penrite. The Penrite was recommended to me by a well known Mini and UK car specialist here in Victoria and he said don't use any glycol based coolant ever. Interestingly, I had an F150 with a 351V8 in it and I had no end of trouble with minor coolant leaks that I spent ages chasing down. An old retired mechanic told me that the new glycol green coolant I used was more than likely the reason I had a heap on very minor leaks. Evidently, the glycol stuff is slippery and finds every little exit point whereas just plain old water doesn't. In hindsight, I should have used the Penrite stuff I reckon in it too. Rocky |
