Hi All,
As the topic says does a 1968 Mini require a reverse light?
From what I can find, I think no as ADR's came in from the 1st of Jan 69.
So just like rear seat belts or amber front indicator lens, I don't have to have a reverse light.

There isn't a reverse switch on my trans under the oil filter or on the shift mechanism.
Is my thinking correct?

Reversing lights January 1972 I think. My 5/70 Matic has none, my friend's late 71 Cooper S with the clubby doors, does.

My 1969 Mini K does not have reverse lights.

Looking at the ADR page - it looks like they were required from 1972?

Your thinking is correct. No reverse lamps required.

ADR 1 - Reversing Signal Lamps was effective from Jan 1972.

Some Minis were fitted with reversing lights on the assembly line prior to that but as a special option. For example, NSW Police vehicles specified them.

Thanks all thought that was the case, just couldn't find good links on the VIC roads website.
