Hi all,
Going to replace my hydro pipes as part of the restoration. I’ve looked at buying bundy pipe and DIY but I’m nervous because I don’t have good equipment. I’m wondering what other options are available. I see that minisport sell some plastic replacements and I’m considering them. Has anyone used these and how did they work out? They look pretty simple to fit.
Another option might be that someone sells a replacement set. Does anyone sell replacements?
Any advice based on personal experience?
What is the best option for reliable replacements that actually fit. I’m a bit nervous about the DIY options because of the limited clearances.
Thank you
Neil

Pirtek made up one for me using the existing as a template. While not perfect and as snug fitting as the original. it does the job. I had the choice of them repairing a hole or making up a new one. In hindsight, I wish that I had got them to repair the pipe first.

Regards Jon

Thanks Jon,
We don’t have a Pirtek locally but when I approached our local hydraulic repair service they didn’t want to do it. I understand their reluctance but...

I did my son's clubby with 3/8 nylon hydraulic tube used for power steering on boats. Rated wp is 620psi. The minispares stuff would be similar.
I made brass adaptor fittings for each end.
I could have taken the subframe back out but chose to run the pipes straight out the back of the floor channels, then across to the subframe fittings. It's been on the road 12 months no problems.

This nylon tube is Australian made. Its like nylon air line but thicker.

Thank you. Did you use the insulating pieces around the pipes as the metal ones?

No I didn't bother, it doesn't move or rattle.
The RH pipe goes around the battery box, the LH one crosses above the muffler. This pipe is inside an insulating tube attached to the boot floor.

Edit if doing another I would use the minispares plastic kit as it comes with the right end fittings.

I have an unused set of the minisport plastic pipes, you are welcome to them. Make an offer. Where are you. Btw way they aren't very flexible but heat may help them round sharper bends. I replaced my hydro with adjustable ndry.

Hi Mate, I’m interested. I will pm you
Doc has used plastic lines successfully so I will give them a go.
Thanks

Thank you for your help and advice Doc. I’m liking the plastic pipe idea. I will give some feedback on how it goes
