Hi, thanks for your comments,

i’m getting various readings on the leads, and now questioning whether i’m measuring right..

i have the multimeter set on 20k ohms

coil to dizzy i’m getting a reading of 16.8 (new lead)
Lead 1 = 9.4
Lead 2 = 9.6
Lead 3 = 5.0
Lead 4 = 7.5

also of interest is that if i use the multimeter continuity setting (beeps when has a circuit) i only get a sound out of Lead 3…

None of your questions are dumb, well not so far anyway. Questions from an inexperienced Mini enthusiast is probably a better description.

I don't remember being called dumb by the teacher in primary school when I got arithmetic sums wrong. At that stage I hadn't learnt and therefore didn't know. :)
