Does anyone know what style of temperature gauge was used on early Australian Mk1 Ss?

The gauge that came with the car was this one.

Unfortunately it was water damaged during a previous rebuild and I replaced it by the one in the photo below.

Can't give you a pic but, according to the parts book, the Mark 1 Australian S's used BMC part 13H2137, which is Smiths part BT2204/04. It's black faced and made in the UK.

The later gauges used on the MK II Series Minis were grey faced and Australian made.

UPDATE: Bill - I see the file name on your first photo has the Smiths part number I showed above, so that's what was originally in the car.

Here are a few from cars that look unrestored or pretty original. Sorry about the pic quality

Thanks for the replies.
Personally, I thought, like gtogreen, that there were red and blue coloured 'flags' on the scale. But the gauge I have with the coloured 'flags' is not exactly the same as the photo examples.
I'm wondering if there was an early gauge used first (BT2204/04 without coloured flags, as winabbey refers to) then replaced by one with flags?

I realise it's not an important issue, especially as I just want a temperature gauge that works. Be nice if close to original.

Out of interest, the Smiths model number is printed under the front plate.

Bill, you are more than welcome to these face plates, if they are of any use. Came from a non-functioning mk1 gauge with broken glass. No use to me.
