The rear suspension trailing arm is at its outer end held in place by a bracket which bolts into the subframe with four bolts that screw into captive nuts in the frame - two arranged vertically either side of the arm and two harizontally in the bottom of the subframe.

One of my horiozontal captive nuts is missing, there just an open hole there. Unfortunately it's the one that is inside the subframe, i. e. the one nearaest the radius arm, meaning that you can't get to the back of the frame to weld in a new nut.

As I see it I can either tack weld a nut across the hole then grind it down so it's flush with the bottom of the frame, or cut a strip of metal out of the subframe around the mounting hole and weld a strip of new metal in with a nut already welded to the back of it.

Has anyone else come across this problem? I don't want to change the subframe as this is a good rust free one with no other issues, and the remaining three captive nuts that hold the bracket on are fine.
