Does anyone have the part numbers for the springs in a 29d for a 1968 998 matic.

The two springs are Lucas part number 62410915 in the 29D4 with vacuum advance as used in the Matic.

The weights are part #62410413, the same as for the non-vacuum advance 29D4 as used in the Cooper S and Clubman GT. The springs for the latter are part #62411108.

As the Doc said, springs can be had here - https://www.distributordoctor.com/distr ... rings.html

I just tried to get some springs from distributer doctor in the Uk, he wanted to know the model, which I gave him. He replied 'that's Australian so I don't have the springs'. I wanted the spring set Doug mentioned above part #62411108.

The part numbers shown by Doug above for Mini-Matic are the same as those for manual transmission for 25D4 upon a change from 25D4 to 29D4 in mid 1967. However, the drawings, dated Feb 1967, show different advance, both mechanical and vacuum, for the Mini-Matic engine 9AN as indicated by my previous post in this thread. The Mini-Matic was shown in prototype form in 9/67 and released towards the end of the year or early 1968. I don’t know the date of the table shown by Doug, but it appears inconsistent with the drawings (also supplied by Lucas). Given the completely different gearing for the Mini-Matic compared with the manual, I doubt if the advance characteristics from the manual would be used in the automatic and would therefore stay with the advance curves shown earlier for the Mini-Matic. Unfortunately, the drawing only gives the distributor part number as an assembly and not individual components.

This chart shows that the part number in brackets is the “changed” part number for auto transmission (since 62041034A is the manual transmission distributor and 62941069A is thus changed part for Mini-Matic).

However, in checking the part numbers for individual components, every part listed is the same as the manual model.

I’d say they have forgotten to include the individual part numbers for the auto distributor which should have been listed alongside those shown with brackets to indicate the changed parts.

I am very confused.

I want to replace my 29D4 springs for my Mk2 Cooper S.

Please tell me the part number. Are they the same as 25D4 ones?

I mentioned the part number for the 29D4 S springs in an earlier post - #62411108.

Here's the page from the Clubman parts book showing the same 29D4 used in the Clubman GT.

The 25D was available in hundreds of different applications, and used lots of different springs to suit each application

The Mk2 Cooper S was noted in the road tests to suffer pinging even with 100 octane fuel in one car, so the advance curve wasn’t even appropriate back then to all engines.

So is the Clubman 1275 refering to the 1275LS or the GT?

The Clubman GT.

This parts book was the first one released for the Clubman style body in 1971 so doesn't include later Leyland models.
