Hi all,

Any ideas the best way to fix this? The metal around the front hole has torn

I see the bracket is available new as 14A6669

you could weld a washer on it as an easy fix?

Hi Timmy, I have one of them (14a6669). I feel your pain. Mine must have been pulled off the floor. They then butchered/repaired it with small bolts and self tappers. I will have to weld up the holes in the tunnel, reshape the tunnel where it has been deformed at the rear of the bracket area and puddle weld the new one in. Too many handbrake turns its past before me .....

I've never seen one do that, but every Mini or Moke that I've owned has had something wrong where that bracket attaches to the floor. Its quite interesting when you pull up the hand brake to release it and it peels up a chunk of floor.

It is very common on mini's and mokes that have done motor khanas or a bit of rallying

You could possibly weld some washers either side of the bracket, but at this point it is probably easier to replace the whole thing if you have to remove the carpet etc.

I cut a little bit of 25mm x 25mm x 3mm angle iron and bolted it to the floor, with a panel washer underneath - the old, broken bracket is just sandwiched between the handbrake and the angle

Thanks all for the advice. I don't have a welder so I needed to get the carpet out to get a better look & potentially prepare it for someone else to weld in a new bracket.

The section that tore had already been welded, and the edge that meets the crossmember had also been rewelded

I figured there was nothing to lose by cutting off the torn section and drilling a new hole. It did move the handbrake lever down 1/2" or so, but still useable. At least when I decide to get the whole bracket replaced in the future I haven't modified the tunnel
