I have tried the current version (rubber type) and they are useless. They curl up and the car has only had fuel in it for a month.

Is there a better alternative, such as the original cork type seal and where can I get them.

Took cap with me to local Bunnings plumbing section. Found this rubber seal, been on car for 4 years. Better quality rubber than expected.

Found my fuel caps were leaking fuel, so decided to try out CGO recommendation of a toilet cistern washer. The washer that seemed to fit the dimensions were for Johnson and Suisse systems. Here's a link https://www.bunnings.com.au/kinetic-bla ... r_p4920270

The washers are thicker than 2.x mm rather than 1.4mm, but with a little grease around the lip of the tank they fit ok.

Thought it would might be useful to share incase it helps.

That is interesting - I have a few of those washers..

I'm using fuel caps that were for a valiant or something, they've lasted really well.
