Doesn't look like any BMC/Leyland gear knob I've seen. Probably aftermarket. The same style knob was used on all round-nose Minis (see below), with a change during the later Clubman style era. https://minisport.com.au/products/mini- ... bb15&_ss=r |

I have one of that type in the shed somewhere, it came with the clubman many years ago. I will find it and report back |

Yes that knob. From a 72 or 73 clubman. A word of caution, it would seem that if you screw it on too far the top can crack and split off. Tht is what appears to have happened with the one here. |

According to the parts books the majority of early Australian Minis had knob 22G110. Attachment: 22G110 Gear Knob.jpeg When the Clubman arrived new style knobs AYG3193 (Clubman GT) and AYG3232 were fitted. These are the same dimensions with just the insert being different. The GT had the blue check pattern and initials GT. Attachment: AYG3232 Assembly Gear Change Knob.jpg Finally knob 22G2316 was fitted to rod change gearbox cars. These have the word LIFT engraved in them. Attachment: 22G2316 Gear Knob.jpg I can't find any mention of the one being shown, although that doesn't mean it didn't happen. |

This is part number AYH3337 listed for Morris 1500 and possibly also used on Morris 1100 |

eightfifty wrote: This is part number AYH3337 listed for Morris 1500 and possibly also used on Morris 1100 OK, so at least that shows it is a BMC/Leyland Australia part. |

Some more details on this odd black knob. Came on a GT , wont mention the line number but somewhere between 515 and 535. Third owner. Second owner took car in 1982 from 1st owner. He said this is the original knob and the car was sold be Kellows Melbourne. Interestingly the car also has aerial hole on drivers side. Is it at all possible Kellows sold this car with this black knob and not the GT logo knob? |

It's a good question, but drawing says YDO9 YDO15 which is Nomad/1500. Feb 1969. Base models were 4 speed. |

I suppose it's possible the car was sold with that knob, but being 50 years since the original sale and 40 years since the second owner bought it I think it's more likely memories have faded and the story confused. Perhaps the original GT knob (now very rare) was stolen and this was the replacement. If that knob was a regular fitting on Clubman Minis, or any Mini for that matter, you would think it would have been mentioned by now. |

The knob with part number ayh3337 was used on the Kimberly / Tasman. Whether mine was originally from the Clubman I cannot say with any certainty but it was on when I got it 30 odd years ago. |
