I've got some new 10 inch Yokohama AO32R 165/70 tyres that I wanted to fit to my 7 x 10 inch rims, using tubes. I've put 165/70 tyres on 7 inch wide rims for years in the past and drove my Cooper S all over the country with them fitted without any issuses apart from the odd puncture. I went to the local Bob Jane only to be informed they wouldn't fit them because the limit for 165/70 tyres is 5.5 inch wide rims. I then tried another couple of nearby tyre retailers, neither of whom would fit them because they claimed their tyre fitting machines can't do the small 10 inch rims. Is this common problem now, how have others gone about getting these tyres onto 6, 6.5 or 7 inch 10 inch rims? Whereabouts in Adelaide can I get this done? |

Maybe try find a mechanic who has their own tyre machine, it might not be so "up to date". Machines seem to all be going to larger minimum diameters now so that they can do larger maximum diameters. I am thinking that might change soon as the fancier new ones seem to be going hub mounting again ![]() |

My regular local tyre shop can't do wheel alignments on minis any longer because minis aren't wide enough to fit onto their new alignment hoist. Had to go to another suburb to find a workshop with an 'old' hoist. They were much more pleasant to deal with than my old workshop and they had other mini customers. |

Tyrepower Kensington Park - which is actually in Glynde at 416 Payneham Road. Call Matt 08 8431 5856 he fitted mine a couple of months ago on 6.5 rims. He said they could do an allignment on their equipment but haven't managed to get back there yet. Tyrepower Blackwood - 8370 2195 can diffinately also do it if they are closer. I booked in there and then had the appointment cancelled because that tech wasn't going to be there. Havent had time to rebook. |
