Post subject: | What year was the pollution gear fitted to Mini's? |
Hello I am just curious about pollution gear fitted to Mini's and have a few questions. 1: What I was wondering was does anyone know from what year pollution gear was fitted to Mini's? 2: If this is removed will that prevent the car from being registered? Both in a blue and a pink slip sense. 3: Is there any performance benefit with it disconnected or removed and if so is it a great deal and noticable? Thanks.. |

ADR 27a was introduced in 7/76 Mini requirements constsied of: fanbelt driven air pump, air injection to cylinder head, charcoal canister, and other BS vac lines to redice emissions. I binned THE LOT on my 8/76 CLubby and got it blue slipped last week. ![]() These other threads might also help: http://www.ausmini.com/forums/viewtopic ... hlight=adr http://www.ausmini.com/forums/viewtopic ... hlight=adr |

1: Sorry can't remember 2: Yes the car should have all of it's pollution gear on it to be registered. It depends what you can get away with though. ![]() 3: I imagine disconnecting the air pump from a later clubby type will give some benefit but I am not sure how much as mine was never hooked up. Leave the pump there though that way you can hook it up if need be and it looks like it just stopped working rather than you pulled it all out ![]() |

JAM is spot on. The power drain on the air pump is equivalent to running an air conditioner compressor all the time. And another 5kg weight penalty ![]() Binned mine, but kept the (empty) charcoal cannister ![]() |
