Probably been talked about a million times. Having horrendous, unfruitful attempts to fit rear screen. First the screen rubber inherited with car was for the wider opening, so obtained the smaller rubber 14A8744 but even that seemed to be a bit too big. Any hints and observations greatly welcomed.

I've recently watched a youtube episode of a mini restoration where the seal rubber was an open length, fitted into the frame, cut to length and rubber glued together. This method would ensure that the seal was the correct size. any comments?

Have used the method you described on my last 2 Minis in 2019 and 2021. The rubber seals I bought were for a later model British car which have a larger rear screen, only option was to cut and rejoin. No problem with the first car but for some reason I cut the seal a little short on the second car and had to insert a section and glue. Just be careful you don't cut it too short.

Hi cgo. Annoyingly I had the rubber for the narrower screen, but that was too long. No possible way to force all the rubber into the opening. Did you use superglue?

Whizzbang, used some Loctite gel adhesive suitable for rubber, on the mating faces.

Cut the rubber slightly long, you don't want a gap when the rubber shrinks with age.
