Same as the earlier Clubman with LA badge. Looking at unrestored cars the later 3 spoke started in 1976

It's a good question. Both Leyland Mini Parts Books (microfiche courtesy of D.J.) list clearly that for Leyland Mini, the steering wheel is part number 21A2225 which is a three spoke wheel with round centre. Leyland Mini S has part number 21A2226 which is very similar, but the slight concave surface in the rim has been smoothed out toa more rounded shape. However, original publicity photos of a Leyland Mini S indicate that the steering wheel is the older style AYH6024 which is the two spoke wheel of the Morris Mini Clubman range. As a guess, I would say that the three spoke wheel came in upon introduction of the high back bucket seats which replaced the earlier style with separate head rests.

the other problem you have here is that IF the 3 spoke "S" type wheel was fitted to a 1974 "S", then wouldn't have been fitted to a van, which would have had a 2 spoke

my '74 has a 2 spoke, but it isn't an "S", or a van - it's a regular poverty pack sedan - so should be really close in trim to a van

 :D

AYH6024 is what is on my S.

It is more out of interest as to why I want to know, both my 74s will probably end up with aftermarket wheels. Both the AYH6024s that I have are cracked and missing the centre cap.

One will end up on my 72 van for originality (I assume AYH6024 is correct then)

Late 72, 73 and 76 clubmans all came to me with 2 spoke wheels.
