Post subject:  no1 can sit in the back
i have a clubman and the seat belts come through that sticky up thing at the back, in the middle, ontop of the seats... my problem is that this is broken and has been since i got the car. so my back seat belts have nothing to work with... was wondering if i could fix them, or buy a new one and how easy it would be to re-attach?

I seriously question how safe rear belts are in a clubman!

If you are in a head on with rear passengers, and the inertia throws them forward, that plastic part will surely break, and in doing so make the rear belts lose their tension (because the plastic piece holds them so they go over your shoulder).

I think the dealer fitted belts in my K are much safer!

That plastic part simply screws into a metal plate inside the rear seat. Find a good second hand one and screw it on. I doubt very much you can buy new.

I wouldn't sit in the back of Barney- the P/O just bolted them to the side bins... :shock:

I have to agree. When I retrimmed the ones in my Clubby I used the old flat backed ones instead of the newer ones with the plastic bracket. Flat back ones look better too in my opinion.

I don't know anyone who'd even think of riding in the back of a mini :lol: It's just somewhere to throw the shopping or in my case the PC's I bring back to fix :wink:

Aswell as going through the inertia loop I have crossed them over. Belt attached to parcel shelf on RHS clips in on the LHS, belt attached to parcel shelf on LHS clips in on the RHS. This makes the inertia loop less depended on as it's not taking as much force as it would if LHS went to LHS and vice versa.

I've got friends riding in the back all the time (lifts at night mostly). Its a 1970 so no rear belts. Perfectly legal but yea a touch irresponsible. Just a touch....

I have no prob putting my son in the back of Pops with dealer fitted Brittax belts. They secure well, and strap him in like a straight jacket! :lol:
