Just wandering how much you guys would pay for a set of Cooper brakes (7"), complete but would need a rebuild kit through them. Would they be worth $400?? Also, what can you do to improve them? Is anything interchangeable with 7.5" or 8.4" brakes?? |

Cooper 7" CVs are drum type and their drive flange is similar to a drum one but with a few dimension changes. Really, if they need major overhaul, all what you are buying is the disc swivel hubs.. so price it accordingly. |

IMO you'd be better to get a set of 8.4" discs straight off. Should be able to pick up a good second hand set for $750ish. edit/ poeee posted that, he didn't realise I was signed in. Though it makes me look smart! ![]() |

If it needs new disc rotors, they are hard or impossible to get here now. Only place I've seen them advertised lately is on www.minimania.com site in US. And they are $$$dear. Rotors are only 1/4" thick new, so you can't machine much off them. Seal kits can get here no problem. ![]() Yes they will bolt straight onto your deluxe, don't even need to pull the driveshafts or CVs out. |

BTW, it must be stated that the cooper 7" brakes were considered just barely adequate even by mid 60's and as far as I gather are not nearly on par, or even in the same league as the 7.5" S ones. |

I had them on the 998 auto Clubby 10 years ago, with a VH44 servo and Ferodo metal pads it stopped surprisingly well..... ![]() Of course the downside was pads don't last long, and decent ones for these now are like rocking horse poo. |
