Perhaps no surprise that I'm in the middle of replacing extractors and exhaust... but I'm a little stumped as to where and how the clamp on the extractors connect to the gearbox.

My gearbox is the remote type, and I have hardy spicer joints. The extractors are brand new generic 1.75" LCBs. There's a clamp (C-AHT98) with a tag.. but not sure where it should bolt to.

I've been looking high and low, but cant seem to find any info. The only reference I could find in printed material (workshop manual, haynes, vizard) is in Vizards book and he just talks about how important it is to secure!

The bracket appears to be GEX7526 - which is labelled for Rod Change only. GEX7337 is labelled as pre-rod change .. but no longer available.

Guessing GEX7526 would be fine for a remote change? Seems to use the diff cover bolts.

It bolts to the lower side cover bolt. Twist the flat bracket if needed.

Word of advice - though I use my car for competition so it may have a harder life than yours

I've found it waaaayyyy better to make a 5/16 UNC stud (a bit of allthread), screw it VMinto the diff/gearbox housing, put a nut on it, then the exhaust bracket, then another nut - your gearbox casing threads will thank you

What a good idea, only 45 years too late for one of the bolt holes in my diff/gearbox housing. I had a set of long 3-1 extractors that picked up the bottom bolt, similarly with a sonic lcb system. Always came loose and eventually flogged out the thread. I’ve helicoiled it this rebuild and using the above bracket with a maniflow stage 2 lcb and will adjust the bracket & clamp to suit. At least this time it will have 2 points of support to spread the load.

Mine have thread inserts now too, and studs, and a 6mm bracket that picks up 3 of them - I got really cranky with it and over-engineered

I have tapped some stripped ones out to 3/8 UNC that's harder to strip again.

Thanks everyone for all your help and suggestions.. very much appreciated.

I located the bolt hole in the remote gear shift housing, which is where the factory manifold bracket/clamp was apparently attached. The thread is 1/4 UNC. Also attached is a pic of the clamp bracket that was sold by Mini Kingdom (thanks John / Origmini)

Unfortunately though, the bolt hole was broken and couldnt support any tension... so planning on taking your advice Simon and making up a stud to fit to the diff housing and connect it to there.

Will post pictures once complete.

The extractors in the photo had a bracket to be bolted to the lower side cover bolt. Didn't like the idea so I welded a small tab to the extractors and bolted it to the bolt hole in the remote gear shift housing as shown in Barkfast's last photo.

Finally got the exhaust manifold and the rest of the system installed.

I took Simon's suggestion of using a stud (made from a 2inch bolt) and installed that into the diff cover. I then fitted the rest of the system before making and fitting a bracket.

Seems to be ok - but havent started the car just yet.. waiting on some bits to finish the new carb install.

Turn the clamp at the end of the collector joining the intermediate pipe around so the end of the ubolt is not hanging down

I was wondering that and thinking about using a T bolt style clamp like the attached pic

Those ubolts always catch on a trailer or ramp etc, a PITA.

I made a strap clamp from 25x3 flat bar, with a bolt at the 9 o'clock position.
Better ground clearance and no U bolt to hit.
Similar to what my Fiat 124S coupe had.
