OK... sorry, looks like my "63" is a much later car. After a bit of excavation I find I have car number 5757*...which makes it around Dec 64 when compared with similar numbers in the 850 register.

However, I'll bet the trim hasn't been tampered with since its installation at Zealand. The front door trims are definitely stick on fibre backed vinyl while the rear trim is straight vinyl on a thin black cardboard backing .... Hopefully the pictures will appear..

Cheers, Ian

My 1964 850 has hessian backed vinyl trim which was glued to the door skins. No other vinyl trim on the car was hessian backed, so I can only assume that’s how it came.

If Doug sees this I wonder if there is a spec sheet for edit: HYA0632 / 0633 which were the locally made liners specified in my parts book. As always I’m interested to learn more

I don't think there are engineering drawings for that trim.

I wonder what Tony Cripps 850 book says in the trim section? I've loaned my copy out so can't check.

His book says mill board backing plates on the doors and rear panels. Mine has the boards on the rear panels. I might put up a question on the 850 page to see what other people have experienced

Ok back from a week away with work and catching up on some reading. Always amazed at the wealth of knowledge on this forum and from the Mini community in general. Thanks everyone for the comments and info.

I want to have a muck around with patterns for the foam backing and different trim so sticking it direct to the door is not really going to work so I’ll have a crack at making the cards myself. I’ve ordered some cheap backing card to work up a pattern. Once I’m pleased with how it fits I’ll get some good quality stuff to make the cards and then start trimming.

Cheers
