Dear Readers, some years ago I described an immobiliser unit that I had designed for my Morris 850. I’ve been testing it now for some years and it has come along very well. A picture of the completed unit is given below. More details, including instructions, can be seen on my web site at
https://leylandaustralia.com.au/minitron.htmThe cost of materials is about $100 and so it is unlikely that this could be made at a price that anyone would be willing to pay, but it was an interesting covid project and I am quite happy with it.
I suppose my intention was to feel like I had some kind of peace of mind knowing that if I left my car unattended, then someone couldn’t just jump the ignition switch terminals, push the floor starter, and drive off. Plus, I didn’t want to be inconvenienced by manual hidden switches, I want to just lock the door and go. And, unlike an alarm system, it had to consume no current at all when parked.
I’d be very pleased if anyone has the time to review the documents shown at the link above and lert me know your thoughts and suggestions.
Regards
Tony Cripps
