Where would an oily residue or film be coming from on the rear drivers side swinging arm?
I hve cleaned it up to hopefully locate. There is also some on the inside of the wheel. It is not brake fluid and doesn't look like grease but it must be from the arm or the wheel bearing so must be grease.
It had spread all over the top of the arm with some in the wheel. I have checked if the arm is to blame and cannot see anything obvious. Its got me tossed.

All shocks have mostly oil, gas ones just use nitrogen instead of air too.

I had Konis on my Fiat 124S and also Barney the pretend S, neither were 'gas' shocks.
They are good, and rebuildable too.

An engine oil leak will gradually work its way down to the back of the car
