Thanks Doc, I realised that this morning, late night posting nd too many beers dulls the brain function.
,Anyhoo, the oil residue is on the back burner, the mini quit while out 9n a run today so that ne3ds fixing now.

Where would an oily residue or film be coming from on the rear drivers side swinging arm? I hve cleaned it up to hopefully locate. There is also some on the inside of the wheel. It is not brake fluid and doesn't look like grease but it must be from the arm or the wheel bearing so must be grease. It had spread all over the top of the arm with some in the wheel. I have checked if the arm is to blame and cannot see anything obvious. Its got me tossed. |

Possibly the shock absorber? |

Thanks Tim I did not think of that. They are Koni adjustable. Are they gas or oil does anyone know |

All shocks have mostly oil, gas ones just use nitrogen instead of air too. |

I had Konis on my Fiat 124S and also Barney the pretend S, neither were 'gas' shocks. They are good, and rebuildable too. |

An engine oil leak will gradually work its way down to the back of the car |
