Hi ALL I have found a tin can master cylinder in my spare parts tubs and cannot determine if it is a clutch or brake tin can. I have looked back at my receipts and I had bought both some time ago, so no help there. How can you identify which is which? Bazzz |

The reservoir is offset to the mounting flange LH and RH. If you have tin can ones on the car now hold it alongside with flange at the same angle and view from above. It will be obvious which one it is. Or measure the bore, if 0.750" it's probably a clutch MC. if 0.700" it's a brake one. Exceptions 850 had 0.750" brake MC 998 Cooper had 0.625" brake MC. |
