What were the original seatbelts for the various models of the late 60s and 70s. I have various different seatbelts.that ha e come with cars I have had here and I am trying to work out what is what. |

I have seen items like that but they had a squarish release button with a BMC badge. Apparently '66 was right at the introduction of "factory" seat belts. I fitted my '64 with belts from Repco (IIRC:)... Sabelt and Kangol were some of the brands available. All I remember of the belts fitted to my Mate's Deluxe was that the belts were a silver grey colour. Kangol magnetic clasp belts were available around this time with BMC badges... Belts were somewhat of contentions items at this time.... girlfriend's fathers seemed to see you as something of a hoon rather than a thoughtful person concerned for their daughter's safety 80. If you thought you needed belts its obvious you were considering doing something stupid. Cheers, Ian |
