I was looking to replace the thermostat studs as the old ones were corroded. I noticed there's a few companies selling stainless steel studs - but I was wondering if these would react to the thermostat housing (which appears to be aluminium and therefore reacts to stainless). Anyone had any experience with these? |

Anyone had any experience with these? A good idea. The thermostat is already stainless anyway, and I've never noticed anything worse because of them. |

Awesome - thanks for the replies Mick and TK. Seems like stainless is a sensible option |

Another option, as many replacement studs now are weak rubbish or wrong length, is to use 5/16 UNC high tensile threaded rod and UNC nuts instead. Works for me and a few recent friends' rebuilds. I use Permatex aviation gasket cement on the threads before screwing them in. |
