Common ones- according to 1976 Leyland Black Book- 3.765:1 is 14.82 MPH/1000 3.444:1 is 16.07 MPH/1000 From another book here (can't remember which) 3.647:1 is 15.7 MPH/1000 (I've got this ratio in both Ha-Ha and Barney now...) ![]() These are with 10" wheels, of course! ![]() |

Download Gearcalc http://locost7.info/gearcalc.php It is a great tool for working out ratios. A tip, park the car on a hard level surface and mark the bottom of the tyre and the ground below the mark, pull the plugs out, stick the car in 4th gear and push the car till the tyre does one revolution while watching how many turns the engine does. If the engine does 4.4 or 4.6 turns etc. Also measure how far the tyre has gone in the one revolution. (you need this for gearcalc) |
