Most original looking minis you see have the stain around the roof where the headlining was glued in at the factory with this horrid yellow stuff.... but some, like my Cooper, have been cleaned somehow...

I have a perfect MK 1 head lining I plan to sell, but the glue stains on it are terrible - does anyone know how to get it off?

That's what that crap is, it's pretty bad on mine too. I wonder if any of that liquid oxyclean fabric stain removing stuff would do it?

the trimmer who did JAM's interior (ex BMC trimmer) was talking to me about exactly this.

He swears by 'sunlight soap' and warm water.

I am going to try it in Pops, who is slightly stained. The in laws Mk 1 s is the same - no tears but stained

I havent actually heard of these being 'repaired' as such - good ones usually exist because theyve been kept out of the elements. If you see a car that has been garaged all its life you wont get the staining because the moisture in the air is what causes the glue to leech into the lining. So dont know, maybe a light ammonia based cleaner would work, I know on my car Windex Surface & Glass (the clear stuff not the blue stuff) works good in small doses and with a toothbrush. obviously dont use too much or it will cause discolouration of its own.
