Hey everyone,
i was bored on the weekend so i thought id do some work on my mini so i can get it a roadworthy before the minishow in august. I decided to work on the rear suspension, and once i started it didnt seem to stop. I took the rear radius arms off and then spent the next 3 hours cleaning off dirt incrusted grease. It was 5cm deep in places and im sure way at the back was original dirt from the day it was driven home from the dealer 30 something years ago. dirty dirty work!!! Now its all clean and about 20 kgs lighter!!

I also need new dampeners, what brands are good and how much do they cost AND where can i get them from. Does supercrap, autobahn or repco stock them or should i just get them from a mini place?? Which would be cheaper???

Also i was reading the latest 2 mini worlds, i think the last 3 or 4 ive read have had an aussie car in them. We are kicking ass!!! But i often read about various engine mods and people have "dog box" gearboxes. What are they???

thanks
trent

Heh, same with me. The rear was filthy on mine too. I hope you kept the "heritage" dirt

Check out Pedders for the shocks...

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO not pedders bad people bad bad people i see dead people argh (shudder's) ok i'm over that now it depends on what sort of suspension you aready have hilo? lowerd standard ride high ??
the adjustrble shocks are good if you know how to set them up i would go to a mini place who races mini's and talk to them about it for the best handling of a car that already sticks like crap to a blanket

I've had Pedders shocks on my hydro for 7 years Makka, hey they still work..
I think actually Pedders might be rebadged Gabriels (made in US). Hey I got Gabriels on the EA, they are good too! And cheap at SuperCrap.

Trent,
Dog boxes are designed for racing only. Basically leaving the synchros out and fitting face dog gears instead makes more room in there for more or wider gears. There used to be 6 speed ones made but most now are 5 speed. They cost $$$$.

NFG for the street, as you have to shift them hard all the time.
