Post subject: | Just a few engine Q's |
I have a 998 engine, year unknown, that i was hoping to put into my '65 998 deluxe. however it seems to have the emissions stuff on it. the things i need to know are 1) can i just remove the emissions stuff and be done with it? 2)will it pass blue slip this way? 3) if not will the new minispares single HS4 intake maniflod be compatable with the emissions set up? heres a pic of the set up if it helps ![]() just another quick question can somebody tell me what type of extractors these are and if the same new manifold from above will fit over them ![]() any insight into any of these questions will be much appreciated cheers |

You can rip that air pump off. 99% of Mini's that had them are now registered fine with no issues when it comes to getting the car registered (my 1275 LS included). You can either plug up the holes with grub screws, or if you are rebuilding, fit a 12G202 head from an 1100 (probably the best bet, as it is a better head). Those extractors are LCB (long center branch) and yes, a MiniSpares inlet manifold will fit over them. |

Extractors are LCBs Long Centre Branch extractors these are good 1 3/4 is the usual size of the output pipe for a 1275 so yours should be small if it is 1 3/4 it maybe a bit large. It looks like a smog head, as JAM said in another thread you can grub screw the holes up and get rid of the emmission stuff. |

Blackwoods will sell you those. DRMINI knows the thread size. That motor is a ADR 27a compliant motor. Post 7/76 is my bet. Exactly what was in JAM when I bought it, and nothing like what I have now, except for the engine block. My motor as fitted to JAM: ![]() And the same motor, post rebuild: ![]() |

I just took all that stuff of my 998 LS and the size for the grub screw are 7/16"UNF (The Doc told me) ... I just used normal hex bolts in mine. |

Yes they are 7/16" UNF, last lot I bought cost me a bomb.. ![]() Get some old seatbelt bolts (same thread), screw them in and cut 'em off with the angle grinder. You won't be taking them back out... ![]() Or cut the ends off them, and make your own slotted grubscrews. |

Cost me $8.00 for the four bolts... 3/4"x7/16" UNF and I had to cut a 1/4" them. |

Hmm seems that the air pump on a 76 Clubman is different to the one on the 77 Clubman.. I would have thought they would have been all the same.. Well the connectors are different anyway... |
