Post subject:  Crunching gears...

Took my LS clubbie down to JED Motors in Officer today to get the clutch/ gearbox checked out as I had a lot of clutch shudder and trouble getting it into gears.

So now getting a new clutch put in and the gearbox either rebuilt or replaced. While they did the inspection they also found that the top ball joints were shot and the castor bar bushes worn and both castor bars bent.

Also windscreen needs replacing because of bad sandblasting plus a new starter motor and a few other small jobs that need fixing. I am also getting 1 3/4" extractors and sports system put on at the same time.

So no clubbie for a couple of weeks to play around with now which means I will have to cut the lawns and do a few jobs around the house while I am waiting....

It is both bad and good at the same time I just hate it when that happens you want to fix something but if you do you also have other things like mowing the lawn to keep you amused for the duration...... Oh well I hope that they don't find anything else wrong with the old clubbie while they are there.

Is this for Rego or something...something could be left for later..EG windscreen.
Did you know you need a new starter motor...was thier a problem with it
and What other small job's :?:
Do you know these guys well..

Not to be pick I just don't wont to see people get things done that dont need doing if it an't broken

Otherwise..how good will she be when you get her back and you can brive away from the lwn mower and wipper snipper

No gafmo, wasn't for rego as the clubbie pasted a R/W last week but the windscreen was mentioned during the R/W check and I said I would get it fixed. The top ball joints were missed by the local mechanic that did the R/W as he knew nothing about Mini's and really didn't know what to look for. Same goes for the castor bushes and bars.

I know the starter motor is in a bad way as it either just clicks or winds over for awhile before actually starting the motor. And I know all the small jobs that do need fixing.

As for the people at JED Motors, they have been around for quite awhile plus a few of the local Mini guys here go to them as well. I asked about them in a thread a little time ago and was told they were great with Mini's plus I have bought some stuff off them of late and they know what they are talking about.

Yep, once she is back in my garage I can then stow the mower and do the small jobs on the Mini such as finishing off the dash and making the boot mats and, well as you know the list goes on.... But I will be able to drive it without crunching gears... :D

It has to be a "she" as the wife christened it "LSee" because of it being an LS.... I don't argue as I know who the boss is in my house...
