Trev wont start:
turns over fine
no spark at the dissy between the points
changed the coil - nothing
points and condenser changed 6 months ago, car is driven every 2-3 weeks
wiring is all the same from 3 days ago when he started

any ideas?

Do you have a gap in your points..and is the coil crap
Also check that wire that goes into the dizzy and points may be earthing

i dont have any tools left in my tool box

yep points open up on button rotation
coils are new bosche gts
dissy wires are there, pos and neg
what do you mean by points are earthing?

and i tried to take off the old brakes yest, dont have a big enough socket for the centre cheesehead nut, and the three little 8mm bolts are kinda rounded

i say trev'd better go before i put the stoppers on him

What we did was because the bolts were preety well sheered off too so we got a 7/16 nut and tac miged it there and took it off that way and just replaced the bolts afterwards

my 2c

Big 'cheesehead' nut should be 1-1/8". For drum brake CVs, that is.

Its actually called a 'castelled' nut, but we'll let you off this time.

And the reason it wont start is simple... Its a bloody Mini. Just beause it ran yeasterday doesn't mean anything.

Go take the car to the local Mech. just get him to rattle the nut off, then do it back up with a socket to a reasonable tension again so that you can get it undone when you get home. My mate and i did the same thing for the nuts on the top of his (sigma) struts.

Much easier that way. You can lever all you like, but its the shock effect of the rattle gun that gets it undone.
