Well if it is for a Mini I would only put Smith's guages in it.

I use to have heaps of them in the past and when I sold my last Mini I never got them back even though the guy I swapped the Mini with knew the guages did not go with the trade. But he was a so called friend and said he would give them back to me. But with friends like him who needs enemies as I never got the back.

But I have since been buying them back up again. These are brand new ones never been used :).

yea smiths are not just like the originals they are the originals. Smiths traditionaly provided gauges for most classic british cars (I think VDO have been supplying german cars for many decades too), icluding the original speedo for the minis and the auxilary gauges for the coopers etc. Smiths gauges can be bought second hand (many would be up to 40 years old) off ebay etc. Their advantage is that they look the part in an original mini, being the classic looking gauge - ie they look the part because they are the part.

If you want different sizes to the standard smiths gauges, more modern and custom or rice looking gauges and different colour combinations to the black or magnolia smiths options, go with the others. But I thing autometer look like something out of "The fast and the furious" (baaaaad) in any car - they are just too rice. But thats just my opinion and I don no nofin.

Yea and I'm saving up to buy that new Daihatsu Charade, its fully sik. My friend already bought Daihatsu's Ellantra and I love it so much better looking than those old British cars and minis and much better quality too (I mean it has a stereo and everything and you dont need to spin that weird handle to roll the windows down). :P

Umm, you havn't seen much of autometer then. The guages I was looking at for the mini, look nothing like they belong in Japanese rice, more like American Muscle, but I think they'll fit perfect in the mini:

If I remember correctly, autometer gauges were a budget gauge when first released ages ago.

They then tried to go upmarket....a little like LG "Life's Good"....they were 'el budgeto when first on the market.
