Post subject:  My Blocks

Over the weekend I desided to pull two blocks apart

Image
Here is my 1275 Cooper S and 998/1098 Cranked Blocks

both look in great condition...with the bores look nice and smooth..so I think I al luck...the 1275 is + .40 and the 998/1098 is fresh as

Image
As you can see thier are many layers of paint on the 1275 s theyboth will get a good clean up...Should I acid dip them or what

Image
Both cranks seem to have a nice ring to them also...so I will be pleased but I may get them double checked before going back in

Image
that also goes for these little babies

It looks like all bearing need replacing but I would say I was going to do that anyway...just to be safe

The 1275 will be put back together again but the 998/1098 may have something else doneto it..but thats a secret for the moment

I wouldn't acid dip the blocks until ya go to rebuilt the engine. Stop it going rusty.

Anton AEG479/480 EN40B cross drilled, nitrided, 1.625"

Well they have been inspected by the good Dr
The Cooper S Crank as above just needs a polish on the mains only...who ever installed it last time did not put ACL Bearings into..so just a little polish is required. the 1098..is perfect....they both has a very nice ring to them..."ting" so no cracks
The 1275 Block need a light Honing and that all..998 block I'll take up to its first step +.20..So all are good
Cam is a 1100s so that will get a RE13 grind and so will the standard 998

So as its stands I am very lucky

So it will be wire wheel time for both blocks and pass them both on to GR to work his magic..with a little something extra for the 998 block
 am I happy you betya

AEG479/480 common Mk1 & 2 1275S crank, EN40B material, X-drilled & nitrided

12G1505 big journal 1275 crank (common one here in Oz) EN16 this one can be stroked or destroked if you find a good one...

CAM6232 big journal rolled fillet radius, A+ motors. Not good for stroking.. EN16

12G1287/8 for small journal 1275 crank EN16.

AEG623 small journal for 1275S, tufftrided EN16- supposedly used in last of Mk2 S. I've never seen one...

Nice one on the motors Jimbo..... 8)

Kev...so many cranks

Do cross drilled cranks have a double hole on the journals? Like 2 holes in 1?

I think I have one of them .... :?

Crossdrilled S cranks have 2 holes in the big ends, but the outer hole should have a brass plug in. If it hasn't fallen out...
